We’re Sorry to Announce that Holiday Skate Center is Closing Effective Monday, August 3, 2026
For nearly 53 years, Holiday Skate Center has been serving residents of Orange and surrounding communities. It is a safe, inclusive, and vital community hub that promotes physical health, youth sports, and social connection for people of all ages and backgrounds. It is one of the few remaining affordable, family-friendly indoor activities in the area. On a daily basis, we’ve hosted birthday celebrations, school skate parties, and fundraisers, as well as public skating. Holiday Skate Center enjoys broad community support and positive reviews.
Holiday Skate Center has leased its location since its establishment in 1973. The property owners have now decided to sell the property for residential development. The change in land use still requires approval of the City of Orange leadership. We expect that that issue will come before the City Planning Commission and City Council sometime later this year. There will be an opportunity for public comment in both instances.
Meanwhile, the property owners have chosen to terminate the existing lease arrangements in anticipation of the planned sale and redevelopment. We have offered to increase the rent rate, or in the alternative, to purchase the property, so that Holiday Skate Center could remain open. Unfortunately, all offers have been declined. We have been issued a Notice to Vacate and therefore have no choice but to terminate operations and move out.
We would like to thank all of our guests for your support and patronage over the past 53 years that Holiday Skate Center has been in business. We also want to recognize and thank all current and former staff at Holiday that have worked hard every day to provide the best customer experience for all of our guests.
Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the closing date?
August 2, 2026 will be our last day of operations.
There will be no special session for the closing.
Last day of Saturday morning classes will be August 1, 2026.
The last session for the general public of all ages will be on August 2 from 1:30-4pm.
The last session for the public for ages 18+ only will be on August 2 from 8pm-11pm.
Q: Can the property be turned into a historical landmark?
No, the property owners (landlords) must decide to change the skating rink to a historical landmark.
Q: What has the business owner done to continue operations?
The landlords have ended the lease, requiring the business owner to vacate the property by August 31, 2026. The business owner has offered to purchase the property or increase the rent. Both offers have been declined.
Q: What can the public do to help?
The city’s Planning Commission, and eventually the City Council, deliberates the property’s future use.

Q: What is happening with all of the materials inside the rink?
The business owner will be keeping all rental skates and select other equipment or merchandise. Anything that is not saved by the business owner may be offered for auction at a later date.
